Socio-economic development has been in a new stage in China. Coordinating rural and urban development is an inevitable requirement in promoting socio-economic development. The issues concerning agriculture, countriside and farmers are the key factors which affect the implement the "moderate prosperity" program in an all-round way. Meanwhile, the urban-rural dual structure hinders the process of China’s overall well-off society. Therefore, the strategy of coordinating rural and urban development must be implemented in order to realize the optimization of resource distribution in both urban and rural areas and form the interactive pattern in which industry promotes agriculture development and the city supports the countriside coordinated development as well. The author has some ideas on coordinating rural and urban development because he has been working at the grass-roots level, and know much about the issues concerning agriculture, countriside and farmers. What’s more, the author’s majoring in economics and management helps a lot. In recent years, Dongsheng District has taken a lot of measures in developing coordinating rural and urban socio-economic, pushing forward rural land circulation and household registration system reform, promoting transfer of rural population to urban areas, protecting environment, building and improving public services and rural equalization system, and phased results have been achieved. GNP in2013reached to88billion yuan, an increase of3.5%; urban residents per capita disposable income reached36,800yuan, an increase of6%. Dongsheng District ranked15in national top100municipal districts, was awarded a title of nationl top ten new urbanization building model city and other honorary titles as well. Many improvements have been got, such as rural resident population fell to2.8million, substantive results have been achieved in industry and agriculture and the development of urban and rural areas. However, there are some problems in dealing with social security, transfer of the employment of farmers and rational use of resources. To achieve positive interaction between urban and rural coordinated development, we must proceed from the overall socio-economic development.
