The paper focuses on agriculture products production condition and agricultural tradestatus of BRICS over years to clear current international competitiveness of Chineseagriculture products. It aims to offer effective policy recommendations to bothgovernment and foreign trade enterprises. Its main part is to analyze thecompetitiveness and complementarity of agricultural trade between China and otherBRISC Countries based on economics indexes and models. This paper consists of six chapters. First of all, it expounds research background, literature review, data resources, research methods, its innovative points and under-research points. Then it discusses the natural endowments of agriculture production, main agriculture products and current agricultural trade status of these five countries. The third chapter raises the theory basis of this project. The fourth and fifth chaptersare the main part of this paper. Based on ten years (20032012) agricultural tradedata of five countries to make the empirical analysis, it combines dynamic analysisand static analysis with the use of international market share index, revealedcomparative advantage index and trade competition index to analyze thecompetitiveness; it uses trade intensity index, trade complementarity index and intra-industry trade index to analyze trade complementarity; it uses compound growthmodel and often market share model to analyze the agricultural trade trend andgrowth potential of BEICS. It analyzes the problems of Chinese agricultural trade andoffers the proposal policy to both government and foreign trade enterprises in order topromote international competitiveness of Chinese agriculture products in the end.According to the research results, both Brazil and India has unique agriculture production conditions, the agricultural products of Brazil have very stronginternational competitiveness, the international competitiveness of Indian agriculturalproducts is rising. Russia does not have strong competitiveness in planting industrybecause of bad geography location and weather, but it has very rich fishery resourcesand stock farming. Although South Africa is not a strong agricultural country, it paidmuch attention to agricultural commercialization and gardening. China also isequipped with good development conditions, but the contradiction between supplyand demand of agricultural products in China is more and more serious, Chineseagricultural products have weak competitiveness. Move on to competitiveness andcomplementarity analysis, Brazil has strongest international competitiveness in fivecountries and largest international market share. However, based on research result of2012, the market share of Brazil has falling trend. India is a large developing country,it has a good development condition, both agricultural products competitiveness andinternational market share is rising. Russia does not have strong competitiveness inagricultural products, but it has stable international market share. South Africa haslowest international market share which is falling. China has good performance interms of agricultural products international market share, but they do not have strongcompetitiveness, which makes it clear that China is a large not strong in terms ofagricultural products trade. It offers some policies to improve internationalcompetitiveness of Chinese agricultural products from both government andenterprises perspective based on other countries’ experience.
