| Oil-tea camellia is a unique woody edible oil tree in China. With oil palm, olive and coconut, oil-tea camellia is known as one of the four major woody oil crops in the world. It has been more than2000years old to cultivate oil-tea camellia in our country,14provinces (municipality, cities) have oil-tea camellia in China. By the end of2012,oil-tea camellia seed production of Hunan Province are68.13million tons and kept up at the very top, oil-tea camellia industry achieve gross output value of147billion yuan,6counties in Hunan Province are rated "The home of oil-tea camellia in China", oil-tea camellia industry is becoming a people-enriching industry benefiting thousands of farmers in rural areas of Hunan Province. However, in recent years,oil-tea camellia planting scale is expanding and production is growing quickly, some problems emerge during the development of Hunan oil-tea camellia industry, which should not be ignored. Studying on how to accelerate the development of Hunan oil-tea camellia industry is of important meaning to alleviating the stress of cultivated land, protecting the security of China’s grain and oils strategy, increasing the supply of high-quality edible oil, helping the farmers become wealthy off poor, promoting the economic development of rural mountainous areas in Hunan Province.Through reviewing the relevant studies and interviewing the relevant departments and oil-tea camellia farmers, this paper analyzes current situation of Hunan oil-tea camellia industry from production situation of oil-tea camellia, oil-tea camellia processing industry, oil-tea camellia products marketing and oil-tea camellia industry management mode. On the production side, the production scale is enlarged in recent years, Hunan oil-tea camellia resources are concentrated in the middle south hilly areas, the level of selective breeding and seedling propagation of oil-tea camellia rank top nationally; In oil-tea camellia seed processing, oil-tea camellia processing enterprises are mushrooming, processed products have been increasing; In the marketing side, sales of products range is increasingly enlarged, some camellia oil products are exported to Japan, Malaysia and etc; In the management mode side, many areas of Hunan Province have explored a series of management mode, such as "Specialized cooperative organization" management mode and "the leading by the main enterprises" management mode, it promote the development of oil-tea camellia large scale production. Based on the principle of SWOT, the advantages, disadvantages, opportunities and challenges of Hunan oil-tea camellia industry were analyzed. The results show that it has advantages on natural conditions, rich resources of forestland, abundant labor resources and scientific research achievements, but it also has disadvantages on low yield per unit area, inadequate input of funds, the lack of the leading enterprises and processing technologies, inefficient science and technology service system and insufficient publicity. It is facing many good opportunities such as great market potential, increasing demand for high-quality oil plants and good industrial policy. In the meantime, it is facing challenges such as the impact of other main oil-tea camellia producing province and high cost of producing oil-tea camellia.In the end,the paper brings up relevant development countermeasures and suggestions basing on the study result above:Develop the development plan with a scientific approach; Increase financial investment and intensify policy support; Promote oil-tea camellia industry intensive management; Improve the level of mechanization of oil-tea camellia industry; Enhance the intensive processing and the comprehensive utilization level; Strengthen the control and enhance the level of quality and safety of oil-tea camellia product; Strengthen the extension of technology and services and enhance the training; Enrich sales channels; Choose appropriate oil-tea camellia industry management mode. |
