Given the fact that tourism industry has undergone rapid growth in China, Chinesetourist guides are facing up with increasingly high pressure. The high pressure tourist guidesencountered have played a highly negative role in many aspects, e.g. it affects tourist guides’physical and mental health, it leads to a decline in the service quality and an increase oftourist complaint, etc. Meanwhile, it will have a negative effect on the development oftourism industry in Dalian as well as the image of Dalian city as a whole.Targeting at the community of tourist guides in Dalian, the author of this paper attemptsto investigate the reasons pertaining to the pressurizing reality of tourist guides in Dalianthrough the methodology of literature review and interviewing. Based on the analytical resultof the SPSS statistics and analysis software, the author will describe the pressurizing reality indetails and then carry out a comparative study. The research result is of great help for touristagencies and relevant organizations to gain a picture of the pressurizing reality of touristguides, and is expected to provide some solutions to alleviating tourist guides’ workingpressure. This research adopts convenience sampling method to carry out a questionnaireamong137forefront tourist guides in Dalian. The research result indicated via the survey is asfollows: the pressurizing scale for tourist guides in Dalian is on a mediocre layer and theapparent working pressure derives from heavy working load and complicated interpersonalrelations; despite the perception on working pressure doesn’t have an obvious difference ingender and education background, there is a distinctive differentiation in perceiving pressurewith the change of age, employment history, working mode and marital status; there is a hugedifference in terms of the perception and cognition in working pressure among tourist guidesin Dalian. The “Neo Tourism Law” doesn’t show an apparent alleviation on the workingpressure among tourist guides in Dalian. In conclusion, based on the aforementionedresearch result, this paper is attempted to probe into the community of tourist guides inaccordance with some fundamental concepts and cultural setting as well as pressurizingreality of tourist guides in China. It is expected to be helpful for managerial staff in the touristagencies to have a better picture of the pressurizing reasons and realities of tourist guides, and,thereby, to put forward with corresponding recommendations, i.e. enforcing management,improving organizational environment, decreasing unsatisfactory and negative sentiment oftourist guides so that more talented tourist guides could stay on their posts and provide with more qualified and satisfying service to tourists.
