The Research Of Chinese Cabbage Total Factor Productivity In China’s Major Cities

Chinese cabbage is the most significant vegetable in China, which is full of nutrient s like vitamin C.,zinc, molybdenum, cellulose, carbohydrates, protein, fat and so on. It al most contains all the nutrients that human need. So it is called "the king of vegetables". I n2012, the planting area of cabbage in China is2557.9thousands of hectares and the pro duction of it is10843.1ten thousands tons. And all of the area and the production is the f irst location in Chinese vegetables field, which is widely known in every households.The price of Chinese cabbage is changing up and down during these years like a boa t in the storm that is hard to control. After some periods of slow and best-selling, the far mers who are planting cabbages would suffer a serious loss. Because the cabbage cultivat ing model in China is mainly planting outside, with relatively backward production mode and serious wastage production factors. Moreover the price of cabbage is controlled by s everal factors, so it is hard to predict. It is important to start a research about the producti on efficiency to make the inputs reasonable, decrease the cost and improve the cabbage p roduction efficiency.This paper will employ the date from2008to2013of cabbage inputs and costs in th e yearbook of vegetable production, selecting production per mulabor cost, fertilizer cost, fees of seeds, fees of farmyard manure, fees of machine and livestock,and fees of pestici de. The price in this paper is made a translation by the index of Chinese agricultural year book and Chinese statistical yearbook. We got the comprehensive efficiency, technical ef ficiency and scale efficiency in different during different period by using DEA methods. What is more, we measure the change of total factor productivity, the development of tec hnology and changes of comprehensive efficiency by using Malmquist index.Draw the conclusions as following:First, the technical efficiency of Chinese cabbage in northern cities, higher than the south. Second, the technical efficiency of Chinese cabbage, has no directly relation to the area, maximum non-producing areas can also reach the biggest technical efficiency. Thirdly, the areas which have big teachnical efficency instead have the small dispersion. Fourth, Cabbage production in our country there is more redundancy in the labor force and fertilizer inputs.Fifth serious insect pest of Chinese cabbage in the South.Sixth in2011and2012. the contribution of factor input growth in the output growth is negative, increased output mainly depend on the technology progress.
