Research On The Income Gap Between Urban And Rural Residents In The Ningwu County

This paper selects the actual urban residents per capita disposable income, the actual rural residents per capita net income, the absolute income gap between urban and rural residents and the relative income gap between urban and rural residents (urban-rural income ratio, urban-rural Gini coefficient) and others as indicators, uses principal component analysis method to build model and then analyzes the differences of different industries which urban residents work on, the region differences between different villages and towns in rural areas as well as the factors affecting the income of urban and rural residents in Ningwu county in1980-2012. Then this paper studies the income gap between Ningwu county’s urban and rural residents.(One) The index is roughly experienced the changing process of five stages, the change characteristics showing a "drop-rise-drop again-rise again-drop again and again" characteristic. From the long-term tendency, the income gap between urban and rural residents is large in Ningwu County.(Two) From the industry perspective, residents’income level varies in different industries and shows changes year to year. From different villages and towns in rural areas, the net income of rural residents in towns which have developed industry is high relatively and also shows the trend of expansion. At the same time, compared Ningwu with Xinzhou, Shanxi, other regions in China laterally, the absolute differences of residents’income in Ningwu is less than other areas.(Three) Urban and rural economic structure, fiscal expenditure, urban fixed asset investment are the main factors affecting the income gap between urban and rural areas. Improving the productivity of primary industry, improving per capita yield, increasing rural investment in fixed assets, increasing rural financial expenditure are the main measures to solve the problem of income gap between urban and rural residents in Ningwu County.
