| With the largest agriculture and food production in China, Henan province playsa significant role in the national grain production. As construction of the economiczone in the central plains rises into the national strategic planning, the dilemma toensure both food and development is particularly prominent in Henan province.According to the current economic and social development environment, to carry outthe relevant research on the urbanization development and cultivated land protectionis, therefore, of great significance to achieve scientific and reasonable development ofurbanization and protection of arable land.Based on the theoretical connotation of cultivated land protection andurbanization, this paper made full use of domestic and foreign relevant researchresults. According to the analysis of the relevant factors of cultivated land pressureindex, it calculated the pressure index of cultivated land in Henan province and madein-depth analysis on cultivated land pressure from the time series and the spatial scale.It selected the driving factors which may cause the cultivated land pressure index tochange qualitatively and extracted the main driving factor with principal componentanalysis method. Correlation analysis was carried out on the urbanization rate andcultivated land area and an analysis is made on the relationship between theurbanization and cultivated land pressure index from the time series and spatial scaleanalysis respectively. Finally, it has put forward some suggestions on cultivated landprotection in the process of urbanization in Henan Province. Through my study, someconclusions have been drawn as follows：(1) Overall, pressure index of cultivated land in Henan province shows a decliningtrend but it distributes in space unbalancedly. At grain self-sufficient rate of130%, thepressure index of cultivated land in Henan Province has increased from1.0232in 2000to1.2754in2003, and then decreased to0.9173in2008year by year. On thebasis of distribution characteristics of pressure indexes of cultivated land in differentareas and cities, the entire province is divided into three regions:1) dominant pressureof cultivated land region. It is mainly located in the middle and western Henan,including Zhengzhou, Sanmenxia, Jiyuan, Pingdingshan, where the pressure indexesare all greater than1, which are1.4392,1.3336,1.0656,1.0240;2) Warning pressureof cultivated land region. It is mainly situated in the middle and outhwestern Henan,including Luoyang, Kaifeng and Nanyang, where the pressure indexes of cultivatedland are all greater than0.7;3) unconspicuous pressure of cultivated land region. It ismainly in eastern Henan, including Jiaozuo, Zhoukou, Xinxiang, Puyang, Xinyang,Shangqiu, Hebi and Zhumadian, where the pressure indexes are all lower than1, andthere is no obvious pressure of cultivated land.(2) In general, major driving factors that affect the changes of pressure index ofcultivated land in Henan are classified into economic development, urbanization,population growth and advance in agricultural science and technology.(3) There is an opposite and unified correlation between cultivated land protectionurbanization development. In2000-2008, reach findings show obvious negativecorrelation between cultivated land area and urbanization level. If urbanization levelincreases by1%, the cultivated land area decreases1,230,000hectares. There was nosignificant correlation between pressure index of cultivated land and urbanizationlevel, and the urbanization development and changes of pressure indexes of cultivatedland in18areas and cities differ greatly. The correlation are divided into three classes:1) take examples of Zhenzhou, Sanmenxia, Jiyuan and Luoyang, the urbanization rateand pressure index of cultivated land share the same change direction;2) for example,Pingdingshan, Hebi and Zhoukou, they shows reverse change direction;3) take Hebiand Jiyuan for an example, the pressure indexes of cultivated land in areas and citiesof the same urbanization development level vary greatly. |
