Some people say that innovation is started from imitation. I agree with this opinion to some extent, but not entirely. In some fields, innovation can be created from imitation but not in the software industry. If someone started to copy software a tendency to copy the software among people will go on in the future. Finally there will be only imitation for the software. Imitation will only cause another imitation in the software industry.Since computer became one of the most beloved tools in the society computer software occasionally has been regarded as public goods without any legal permission. Furthermore, this biased view which occur economic inefficiency became such a one of trends among people. Hence, it is requested that government resolve this intellectual property infringement problems in order to protect software makers and growth software industry. This study estimates the advantage of software property right protection and evaluates the effectiveness of existing regulation for software piracy. The purpose of this study is to look into empirically the effects of property right protection on sales of the software industry. The major findings are as follows. The results show a tendency for the positive effect of property right protection on sales.
