Study On The Impact Of Service Trade Liberalization On The Export Sophistication Of China's Manufactured Goods

The report of the 19 th CPC National Congress pointed out that China's economy has changed from a stage of high-speed growth to a stage of high-quality development.So the quality of economic development must be put first in the first place.In 2019,the "two sessions" proposed "promoting the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries and promoting the high-quality development of manufacturing." On the other hand,in order to promote the development of manufacturing industry and economic growth,China has established a free trade area and a free trade port with Chinese characteristics in Hainan to further expand the opening-up of the service industry.This paper firstly analyzes the mechanism of the influence of the liberalization of trade in services on the export sophistication of manufactured goods,and provides theoretical support for empirical analysis.Then,this paper makes a horizontal and vertical comparative analysis of the current situation of the liberalization of China's trade in services and the sophistication of manufactured goods export,which provides a realistic basis for the later research and policy recommendations.Finally,taking 2005-2017 as the sample period,this paper uses the method of Hausmann to calculate the technical sophistication of China's manufactured goods export at the national and industrial level by using the data of 167 kinds of manufactured exports under the three-digit classification code of SITC Rev.3 in China.Based on the revised service trade openness indicators and the permeability of FDI industry in services as alternative variables of liberalization of trade in services,the effects of services liberalization on the technological sophistication of manufactured goods exports are measured and tested.The results show that the liberalization of trade in services has a significant positive impact on the technological sophistication of manufactured goods exports,and the liberalization of trade in services can promote the increase of technological sophistication of capital-intensive and technology-intensive manufacturing exports.Therefore,it is of great significance to promote the reform of the liberalization of trade in services and greatly relax market access to improve the total factor productivity of enterprises,improve the quality and technology content of export products,and enhance the innovation power of the economy.
