Innovation is the soul of a nation’s progress and the unceasing power of acountry‘s prosperity. Research teams are the main force of our country‘s innovationand they shoulder the great missions of science and technology improvement andtalents training. Without doubt, knowledge plays a significant role in research teams. The efficiency of the entire team can be improved effectively through knowledgemanagement, which include several processes such as the obtaining, transfering, warehousing, sharing and creating of knowledge. Among these processes, knowledgesharing is the key, knowledge sharing between the team members can promote theteam‘s innovation ability and affect the achievements of the science and technology.Research on knowledge sharing of scientific research team is meaningful to improveour nation‘s innovation ability. This paper focuses on the case of a knowledge team in Harbin Institute ofTechnology (HIT). Questionnaire survey is employed to collect data and a knowledgesharing network is built based on the data. Then, a social network analysis isconducted, including centrality analysis, faction analysis, and so on. Based on thisdiscovery, the team members‘knowledge sharing is explored and the relationshipbetween knowledge team and the conception of community of practice is illustrated. The team members‘knowledge sharing behavior is analyzed based on the key conceptof situated learning theory. The study found that, a) People with the same knowledgebackground are easier to form a "community of practice" together for knowledgesharing, b) in the knowledge-sharing process, some external conditions and teammembers‘internal factors affect their knowledge sharing behavior, c) People who havemore―power‖in the team are more willing to share knowledge with each other. Finally, according to the research results, some measures are put forward toimprove the team knowledge sharing, including cultivation of interdisciplinaryknowledge sharing atmosphere, creation of favorable conditions and support from coremembers. This study is helpful for the university scientific research team to improveknowledge sharing and promote the scientific research innovation ability.
