The influence factors of urban competitiveness are consists of soft power and hardconditions, with urban planning controls the hardware of city and city marketing targetsthe improvement of the software systems of city. With this common objective, urbanplanning has to integrate the ideas from city marketing. Some scholars have explored thetheories and practices in planning, involving urban strategic planning, industrial parkplanning, tourism planning, urban design, etc. A full study of the relationship betweenurban planning and city marketing will be able to avoid the market mechanism which usedto be ignored in the existing planning system, make more flexible planning to changingenvironment. Up to now,related results have been focused on theoretical aspect,lackingof systematic implementation guidance, concrete operation methods and discuss on howto effectively promote city development. According to the development policy of thecentral government, actively and steadily urbanization is the future focus of urban andrural development. Cities in the process of industrialization and urbanization areencountering more competitions for limited resources and opportunities,giving significantemphasis to urban marketing, that we should strengthen the study of city marketingplanning.
