The Study On Design Management In Chemical Project EPC

EPC contract mode is more and more popular in the field of the chemicalconstruction. As the preliminary control, design management is the most importantstep in the EPC project management. Design management will influence the EPCproject to achieve the goals of plan, quality and cost. The study purpose of this thesisis to help manager know how to realize the goal of EPC project performance by usingthe effective method to design with reasonable plan and effective process control.By studying literatures and analyzing the problems in the chemical EPC designmanagement in this thesis, the author come up with that the design management needto know what management methods should be used to improve the design efficiency,guarantee the engineering quality, reduce additional cost by design reason. Based onbuilding management team to achieve the effective control of the project plan, cost,quality, the author analyze the features of the design management team, thesignificance of using WBS to plan control, design quality problems and reason, quotadesign requirements and structure of CBS, the demand of design document controlrespectively. From the above analysis content, the author put forward a designmanagement system with five modules as the main body including management teammember selection, design plan control based on WBS, design quality managementplan, cost control based on CBS and document control. By describing and analyzingthe specific chemical EPC project design management, the cases confirmed theimportant function of this management system in the project management.This thesis study results show that the EPC design management system can bedecomposed into several management module, each module is independently andblend each other. In using of design management modules, the process of designmanagement can be modular and farmable. By making the EPC goal breakdown, thevarious tasks can be assigned to individuals. Design team carry out the design byusing methods of various modules of management to achieve sub-objectives andrealize the overall project goal.
