With the fast development of China’s economics, the acceleration of theurbanization, the migration of people from rural to city and the increase of the livingstandards, the demand of city complex is increasing constantly in both its size andquality. However, the land resources in the whole country, especially in the city arelimited. How to strategically position a one-stop three-dimensional service complex,namely the city complex, which includes residential, commercial and office building,high-end hotels and shopping plaza altogether to maximize the usage of the space, isbecoming one of the most critical issues.For this reason, the research of city complex positioning strategy is conducted.The core steps and strategies are proposed based on the analysis and review ofliterature, combining the analysis of documents and data collected from real situation,considering the positioning principles, procedures, methods and related theories andthe factors that affect the city complex positioning. The case used in this research isTianjin Citic City Complex with a short overview of the project’s basic information,main contents and its needs. Using the above core steps and strategies, the market andfunction positioning of the Tianjin Citic City Complex are analyzed and the detailedpositioning suggestions are proposed as references for this city complex constructionproject.
