Knitted fabric industry is a traditional industry with resource hogs inChina. Because the production cost rises sharply in recent years and theexternal customer requirements become more and more diversified, theknitted industry is facing a big operation pressure. How to relieve theoperation pressure becomes a big challenge in this industry. Meanwhileproduct quality is the development cornerstone of this industry and costcutting should not be based on the loss of quality. After investigation andanalysis, we found that the average level of quality in this industry is onlyat3σ, which means that internal quality loss cost accounts for25%to30%of business sales. From this point, Y company still has a largeimprovement potential.Y knitting company had historically been a leader in this industryand is still an excellent representative now. Its history is a microcosm ofknitted fabrics industry. In this paper, the product quality management ofY knitting company was addressed with both empirical and theoreticalanalysis and finally the author puts forward the systematic qualitymanagement improvement methods. The quality management situation of Y company was firstly analyzedbased on process control and quality management system in this paperand the author found five issues, which is embodied in unsoundstandardization management, scattered quality management information,weak quality process control, deficiency of process quality improvementmechanisms, and passive response to external quality managementchallenges.With above issues, the author makes classification analysis fromthree aspects: inside the enterprise, outside the enterprise and corporatecontinuous improvement. And the author puts forward the correspondingimprovement methods in accordance with the nature of the problem. Inthe paper, internal quality management improvement solution mainlyfocus on the quality-oriented organization management system, qualitymanagement information integration and standardization management.Enterprise external quality management is mainly on supplier qualitymanagement from the back-end, quality management by cooperation withfront-end clients and supply chain quality management integratingfront-end with back-end. Besides, the paper summarizes the feasiblecontinuous improvement approaches and performance evaluation oncorporate continuous improvement.After applying all the above measures, monthly FPY of white cuffand collar fabric is increased up to about15%on average in Y company and monthly FPY of white body fabric is increased about3%on average.
