The Research Of The Citizenization Of Migrant Workers In Jiaxing

After China’s reform and opening up, with the rapid development ofindustrialization and urbanization, many rural labors move to the city, whichappears the migrant workers of this group. Also we can call them newresidents. They promote the rapid development of our country’s economy.They are the important force to construct socialist modernization. However,they are in a vulnerable position in the city. So, the research on“citizenization of migrant workers” plays significant role in practice.This paper mainly borrows the survey data about the new residents’living conditions in2009from Jiaxing Affairs Bureau of New Residents. It isalso based on the research in2011to investigate the migrant workers inJiaxing about their employment, income, social security, medical condition, dwelling condition, children’s education, as well as the spiritual and culturallife and other aspects of the situation. It analyzes the difficulties ofcitizenization of the migrant workers and points out institutional factors, theemployment feature of the migrant workers and their own factors makeadverse impacts on their citizenization.At last, the paper puts some suggestions in how to advance the processof Jiaxing’s migrant workers. First, we should perfect the system of residencepermits. Second, we should improve the migrant workers’ employmentstability. And third, we should solve the housing difficulties of the migrantworkers.
