GC Group that I was working for is a multinational company with morethan100years history. It was founded in1870s in Germany. And it is one ofFortune Global500. It is also one of a leading auto and truck parts and rubbersystem manufacturing company. GC group has2main Business Divisions,Automotive and Rubber, which hold5Business Units. Its locations covermore than50countries with more than130,000employees.GC group development involved7global major mergers and integrationssince past30years. The series of merger and integration gave unprecedentedhuge challenges in corporate management. In2008, the global financial crisisstarted. GC Group had its biggest global merger. During this merger, GCgroup lumber huge debts in the bank. In order to save the cost and improvethe operation efficiency, GC group decides to have a further integration andoptimization on the utilization of corporate resource. How to integrate thepurchasing and supply chain resource scattered in different business units andfurther improve the corporate purchasing and supply chain managementbecame one of important part of corporate integration.In this thesis, starting with the analyzing of automotive electric motorindustrial structure (e.g. industry status, competitive environment, marketsegmentation), the electric automotive motor industry status is analyzed.Then it introduces the definition of purchasing, supply chain and supplymodel. Through the presentation of the Group’s strategy and corporate environment analysis, e.g. management organization, resource and capability,it introduces the global purchasing and supply chain management model. Byanalyzing its related management organization and responsibilities allocation,it found out the root cause of block point for corporate synergy. Finally, ituses ABS motor ‘global purchasing and supply chain as an example toanalyze its supply model and find out its internal issues. By utilizing thesynergy effect, it successfully optimized supply value and model. In the end,it also gives the reasonable production about the potential cost reduction bylinear programming method. It further proves the synergy effect in normaloperation of Global Purchasing and supply chain management.Hope that this thesis will be cited as a reference for the development ofother automotive industrial companies. Especially under today’s competitiveglobal environment, how to make full use of existing resources, integrate theenterprise resources to achieve the Synergy Effect, to reduce costs, toimprove efficiency, and to enhance the enterprise’s core competitiveness. Ialso hope that during the process of writing this thesis, through case studiesand analysis, with business management theory, I can practice them in myfuture job management in a theoretical basis.
