With the improvement of social economic and the continuous progress of scientific and technological level, the scale of railway network is being expanded. After railway network has formed a certain scale, the key of sustainable development of railway operation system is to construct a perfect yield management system. Based on yield management system, it can set reasonable prices and increase the demand of consumers choosing to travel by train. Meanwhile, with the increase of travellers and the improvement of railway service level, there are various ways for travelers to purchase railway tickets, for example, purchasing tickets on line, on the phone, on the automatic machine or in the ticket service centre. In order to ensure the travel plan and decrease the cost of travel, advance ticket purchase has become a popular way for travellers to purchase tickets. In European countries, due to the privation of railway market, it is to maximize revenue based on the transport operation mode of railway market. With the high departure frequency of railway, yield managagement system has been applied in the railway market to set flexible pricing and stimulate consumers to purchase ticket in advance in order to increase consumer surplus. Therefore, it can achieve win-win. In our country, the development of passenger rail transport is relatively lags behind and ticket fares are set simple. It can not stimulate the railway market’s vitality and can not stimulate the initiative of purchasing tickets in advance on weekdays (except for holidays). Therefore, it can not realize the maximization of revenue. Nowadays, railway passenger special lines are being built in a large scale in our country. After the large-scale construction of railway passenger special lines, achieving revenue maximization and the increase of consumer surplus is the key to realize sustainable development of railway passenger special lines. Therefore, that how to apply yield management system in railway market in our country based on the actual situation of railway operation and how to establish reasonable rail fares to satisfy the demandof passengers in all levels need to be solved urgently.This essay combines yield management and travelers’ choice behavior of purchasing tickets in advance to do analysis. It has established AP-PRAISE model based on the traveler’s choice behavior of purchasing tickets in advance. There is a case study about a route of European high speed rail. Based on present yield management system and the various devised scenarios about fare adjustment, it is to research on the influence of choice behavior of purchasing tickets in advance on yield management system. In addition, it researches how to set fares based on yield management system can stimulate consumers to purchase tickets in advance in order to increase consumer surplus and society welfare and realize the revenue maximization. By reference to yield management system of European high speed rail, it improves that yield management system and can apply it in Chengdu-Chongqing railway passenger special lines. Based on the system, it can establish ticket fares in different time periods. It is to provide reference and reasonable basis for Chengdu-Chongqing high-speed rail in the near future.Specific work of this essay reads as follow:First, it introduces the history and development of yield management system and it summarises the present situation and issues in airway and railway market;Second, based on the characteristics of the choice behavior of puraching tickets in advance, it establishes AP-PRAISE model;Third, based on the collected ticket prices of a route of European high speed rail, it applies the model in a case study about the route of European high speed rail. Abd it researches the influence of the choice behavior of purchasing tickets on yield management system. According to the results after running the model, it analyses demand, revenue, consumer surplus and sociery welfare in the rail market;Furthermore, it devises various yield management system with fare adjustment. From the three sides of railway operation, consumers and society, it analyses the best devised scenarios to provide for railway department as reference;Finally, it improves yield management system of European high speed rail and applies it in Chengdu-chongqing high-speed rail which is still under construction. Based on the estimation of demand and standard fare, it establishes ticket fares in different time periods based on yield management system. This pricing scheme provides reference for Chengdu-chongqing high-speed rail.
