“Go south” policy was a foreign policy of both political and economic dual considerations, which was posed by Taiwan authority to strengthen economic and trade ties with Southeast Asian countries as the main content at the end of 20 th century. Although this policy has been evolved a number of times with the development of the world situation, it still focus on Vietnam as one of the important target countries. Promoting policies and development potential of Vietnam itself has made Taiwan businessmen become one of the earliest foreign businessmen who invested into Vietnam market. Today, Taiwan’s investment in Vietnam is indeed impressive: Direct investment amount is often at the top and investment areas are in the North, South and Middle. Investment is covering almost all industries in Vietnam as well as success of listing of the bond market. At the same time, as the reason for history, culture,politics, economy and other aspects, Taiwan businessmen are in favor of Vietnam compared to other Southeast Asian countries in terms of investment amount and investment persistence. Taiwan direct investment which is planted into the Vietnam national economy has brought a large number of influences for both sides of Taiwan and Vietnam. On the economy, Taiwan’s investment in Vietnam benefits transfer of small enterprises to overseas and global layout, and promotes economic growth in Vietnam; On the culture, Taiwan’s investment in Vietnam gives birth to the Chinese learning heat among Vietnam universities and promotes the bilateral cooperation in education; On the society, Taiwan’s investment in Vietnam accelerates the interconnection on both sides and the prevalent phenomenon of intermarriage.
