With deepening development of national grid, great changes have taken place in operation of power supply enterprises in recent years. Together with rapid development of UHV technology and expansion of grid construction, higher requirements are being placed on HR management of power supply enterprises.As a branch of State Grid in Gansu Province, Wuwei Power Supply Enterprise keeps on increasing investment on employee training in order to meet the needs of own operation and development. However, some problems have seriously affected training result and wasted limited training resources and capital. Based on competency model, the paper introduces current situation of employee training of Wuwei Power Supply Enterprise, and analyzes problems in it and causes of the problems. Then, a improvement training has been put forward on the basis of competency model. Some suggestions are put forward to ensure smooth running of the new training model.To guarantee rationality of construction of the new training model, jobs are divided into two types:production posts and marketing and service posts. Based on different features of the posts, some indexes are determined. Meanwhile, several training forms are designed to assess training result of new model. Based on synthesis result of every trainee, some measures are taken place to maximize training results. The research is meaningful to Wuwei Power Supply Enterprise, but also can be used to promote employee training of other enterprises in the industry.
