Globalization and informatization is promoting the development of regional economic integration constantly, the function and spatial relations inter city and industry increasingly strengthened, various economic factors and activities flowing, gathering and spreading freely in space, promoted regional economic relations and integration development. Metropolitan area is the best regional unit of regional integration, metropolitan integration development is the key to realize the overall efficiency of the metropolitan area, metropolitan functions. Ji’nan metropolitan area is an important strategic of development of Shandong province, an important part of the spatial development pattern of Shandong province, the level of its development will directly affect the realization of the process of urbanization of Shandong Province.Based on the clear concept of the metropolitan area integration and the analysis of metropolitan area spatial economic contact theory, from three dimensions of economic main body, supporting system and coordination mechanism to build the metropolitan integration theoretical framework: Metropolitan integration is a process of economic elements rely on strong support systems, through the mechanism of competition and cooperation, flowing freely in the spatial range, to strengthen economic Relations constantly. From the micro perspective, metropolitan integration is constantly promoted by the location selection activities of microscopic economic subject, is the results of profit driven activities by production factors under the market mechanism; From the macro perspective, metropolitan integration is the result of competition and cooperation at all levels of government, every city clear its own position and advantage, divide and cooperate reasonably, is a constantly process which flourish space economic ties between the citys. Thus, regard the intensity of spatial economic relations as an evaluation standard to measure the level of metropolitan integration, using the modified gravity model to do empirical analysis of economic spatial linkage of Ji’nan metropolitan area, measure the spatial economic relations intensity of metropolitan area, specifically: on the one hand, modified the quality of city, select 23 indicators to replace the single evaluation index, and use principal component analysis to calculate the comprehensive score of the quality of city; On the other hand, modified the economic distance, introduce the shortest time and lowest cost of traffic transportation to instead of single distance index. We conclude that problem and shortcomings of Ji’nan metropolitan area in the development process of integration: the city economic potential is small, the support system development is not sufficient, the competition cooperation mechanism is not complete.Finally, aiming at the deficiency of Ji’nan metropolitan integration, from the three dimensions of economic main body, supporting system and coordination mechanism puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions to accelerate the Ji’nan metropolitan integration development: from the point of economic main body, what we should do is to strengthen the construction of every city, to play the role of micro enterprises, mobilize all forces to achieve the integration; from the point of supporting system, to strengthen the infrastructure construction, improve the market system, build the good system environment; from the point of view of the coordination mechanism, to integrate resources, the establishment of the mechanism of competition and cooperation, promote the integration of the metropolitan area.
