Along with the process of the urbanization, urban development brings change from isolation to urban agglomerations. Tourism development brings change from single tourist attractions to regional tourism cooperation. So metropolitan tourism circle is a main form of regional tourism cooperation, it has the important academic value and the practical significance to study it. However, whether it is effective to regional tourism cooperation? What problems still existed in metropolitan tourism circle? These are the main part of the thesis. So, this article chooses metropolitan tourism circle as a research object, and emphatically discusses the differences and relationship of each region in metropolitan tourism circle. We analyze the relationship between competition and cooperation of each region from two dementions, they are spatial mismatch and spatial spillover. Meanwhile, it helps to promote integral development in metropolitan tourism circle. The article has a good directional sense to promote deep development of regional tourism cooperation.Based on spatial interaction theory, spatial mismatch theory and spatial spillover theory, the author used the meta-analysis method, comparative analysis method and mathematical statistic method etc. This paper builds spatial mismatch model, and outlines the key success factors for tourism spillover, and selected the improved gap model as method. This paper selects Xi'an tourism circle and Chengdu tourism circle as objects, collects related tourism data from 2004 to 2013, positively analyses and compares with Xi'an tourism circle and Chengdu tourism circle. The main research contents and conclusions are as follows:(1) Broadly defined, we can understand spatial mismatch from the qualitative and quantitative angle, it means the difference of tourism resources in each region from qualitative analysis angle, and it means the"mismatch" of tourism elements in certain area from a point of quantitative view. Spatial spillover, it means that the tourism affects each other, and shows tourists flow in each region. The dialectical relationship are as follows:? Spatial mismatch of qualitative analysis angle as the cause of spatial spillover, and spatial spillover as the reason of spatial mismatch of qualitative analysis angle. ? It's meanwhile to analyze spatial mismatch from the the quantitative angle, because it provides the basis of spatial spillover. For each region, it is useful to understand the disadvantages, promote tourism development and regional tourism cooperation.(2) Xi'an tourism circle is located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River, it's the typical of northwest metropolitan tourism circles, according to related data from 2004 to 2013, and cross-sectional data in 2013, we can find that tourism resources in each sub-region is different from each other, it is good to tourism spatial spillover, the value of tourism spatial spillover is positive, it shows that regional tourism cooperation is effective. The value of output spillover of Xi'an is 5.5801, shows 2.2 times of the average output spillover in Xi'an tourism circle, thus it can be seen that the core city in metropolitan tourism circle has a large radiation effect on surrounding other cities (states). Weinan and Xianyang are most accept tourism spillover in Xi'an tourism circle, so it can be seen that the city near the core city or endow with abundant tourism resources, it's beneficial to accept tourism spillover.(3) Chengdu tourism circle, it's the typical of southwest metropolitan tourism circles, the phenomenon of tourism spatial mismatch exists both qualitative and quantitative angle, the level of spatial spillover of Chengdu tourism circle is 1.8105, it shows that regional tourism cooperation is effective. The value of output spillover of Chengdu is 5.1227, shows 2.8 times of the average output spillover in Chengdu tourism circle, Leshan, Deyang and Mianyang are the top three in Chengdu tourism circle, the value are 3.0323,2.4482 and 2.4389 respectively.(4) From comparative analysis, we can find that:? The level of tourism development, both Xi'an tourism circle and Chengdu tourism circle shows continued growth from 2004 to 2013, and tourism development of Chengdu tourism circle is better than Xi'an tourism circle, but Xi'an tourism circle grows faster. ?Tourism spatial mismatch of Chengdu tourism circle is much more obvious, it has an effect on the development of tourism industry. ?The level of spatial spillover of Xi'an tourism circle is bigger than Chengdu tourism, it is more mature and effective of regional tourism cooperation. The innovation of this paper lies in:(1)In the article, author combines with tourism spatial mismatch and tourism spatial spillover, both analysis the difference and gap between sub-regions in metropolitan tourism circle, and discusses the relationships between sub-regions. It reveals the current development of metropolitan tourism circle from different perspectives, which can provide more reasonable strategies to promote tourism industry in hole. (2) This article selects the western tourism circle as research cases, in order to provide the information of tourism development in western China.
