Study On Exports Of SMEs Under The Perspective Of Technical Standards

Technical standards has already become important means of developing trade and promoting technological progress. And the level of technical standards has also become the objective scale of measuring a nation’s scientific and technological development. Facing the increasing international status of technical standards, standardization organizations in developed countries have adopted to implement technical standardization strategies for controling international standards. In such a situation, China’s small and medium enterprises which participate in international competition should have the awareness of standards in order to to constantly upgrade and improve the ability and level of international economic activity.In this paper, theoretical analysis examine and analyze SMEs’ exports from the perspective of technical standards. This paper analyses the impact mechanism of technical standards for SMEs’ exports from three aspects, and thus leads to relevant theoretical models.The three aspects include the relationship of technical standards and SMEs’ technological innovation, the influence of SMEs’ technological innovation to exports and the function of technical standards to cost of exports.When analyzing the role of technical standards affecting SME exports, this paper selects the data in China’s electronic and communicational equipment manufacturing industry for empirical analysis. Electronic and communicational equipment manufacturing is high-tech industry in our country. In this industry, products upgrade frequently, meanwhile, innovation is an inherent requirement of the development of the industry. Selecting this industry’s data for empirical analysis can analyze effectively the influence of technical standard to SMEs’ exports.With the continuous development of the times, many countries emphasize the importance of technical standards increasingly. International competition has expanded from resource competition, product competition to the standard competition. Meanwhile, in the background of increasingly competitive international standard, our national and local government for the importance of technical standards has reached a new height, increased the investment in human and financial efforts on work related to the technical standards. Therefore, in the basic technical work of the country, the role and status of technical standards has been significantly improved. Also, more companies have an inherent requirement and desire to participate in various standardization activities.These factors provided favorable condition for the study of the function of technical standards to SMEs’ international trade.
