In recent years, to strengthen the inventory control has become a key business measures for the enterprises to reduce operating costs, prevent stagnation of current assets, improve the ability of the rational allocation of enterprise resources and enhance their market competitiveness. H Company is a branch of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd. It takes charge of the management, operation, maintenance and construction of the cross-province framework transmission lines and the important interconnection lines. It is the important guarantee for the safe and stable operation of South China power grid, and the important power resource optimal allocation platform for the southern provinces (regions). However, H Company has many problems in the internal inventory management, such as the spare parts classification dimensions is not enough, and reserve quota is not scientific, the top-level design of material systems is not considered attentive and reserve management process execution is not thorough enough. Based on this, this paper carries out in-depth research on H Company’s spare parts classification and reserve strategy.Firstly, this article carries on analysis to the existing spare parts classification method and the status quo of reserve management of H Company, and teases out the existing problems of H Company’s reserve management of spare parts. Secondly, introduces the Kraljic Model as the research method of spare parts classification, and constructs spare parts classification and evaluation system from two the importance of material and the risk of supply supplies, and analysis its impact factors. Then take methods such as Experts Grading, Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision Making and Multidimensional Scaling to classify H Company’s spare parts more sophisticatedly. Ultimately distinguish the Strategic materials; Leverage materials; Bottleneck materials and Non-Critical materials. Finally, according to the different classification of spare parts, put forward suitable reserve strategy to all kinds of spare parts, optimize of overall body of all kinds of spare parts, build a optimization mechanism to reserve list, carry out the agreement reserve pilot, select and apply appropriate reserve quota calculation model, and through material system to solidify the achievements. According to the research results, Implement and follow up the corrective actions, and then take in-depth comparison on the optimization rate of reserve list, change of inventory amount, rate of out of stock, inventory turnover rate before and after of the optimization, to show the optimization effect achieved by H Company.
