A Study Of The TFP Changes And Influence Factors Of Producer Services Industry In Chongqing City

Service industry is a major sector of the national economy growth. At present, China’s economic growth pattern changes from capital-driven to efficiency-driven, but the growth of service industry has been troubled by the low efficiency problems. Some scholars thought the low efficiency of service industry is caused by the low efficiency of producer service industry, Some scholars thought the market competition will promote the efficiency of producer services, so as to promote the efficiency of service industry. The existing literature on Chongqing are in support of the latter argument. In order to find out the TFP of producer industry, this paper takes Chongqing city as the incision, defining the producer service based on the current conditions, using the second economic census data of Chongqing to unify the data caliber, using DEA-Malmquist productivity index to calculate the TFP of producer service industry. Considering the heterogeneity, This paper do the analysis from the angle of industry segments, and analyze the influence factors of the TFP changes. To provide some theory basis to improve the efficiency of producer services in Chongqing.Based on the relevant theories from the producer service industry and TFP, this paper uses the input-output table to define the extension of Chongqing producer service industry; through the descriptive statistical method, this paper reflects the input and output status of producer service industry in Chongqing, using DEA-Malmquist productivity index to measure the TFP of producer service industry of Chongqing in 1998-2012,compareing it with these of service industry and do the analysis from the angle of industry segments; through grey correlation degree, Analyze the influence factors of the TFP changes. The results showed that:(1) The producer services mode in Chongqing has transformed from extensive development mode to Intensive development mode. Due to technology improvement, TFP of producer services grows much higher than that of services, showing the pulling effect. (2) the heterogeneity between different industry segment is high, due to the different technical efficiency, the TFP growth rate of transportation, storage and postal industry, wholesale and retail industry declined, Leasing and business service industry, the financial industry has the highest TFP growth rate, scientific research, technical services and geological prospecting and information transmission, computer service and software industry make technical progress, but the growth rate of TFP is low. From the trend of industry heterogeneity, technical efficiency shows the obvious difference, technology progress shows the small difference.(3) The empirical analysis on the influencing factors of the TFP changes of producer service industry shows that:producer service industry output growth, the level of economic development, industrial development, social environment, innovation input changes have a positive correlation with the TFP changes of producer services. The industrial development level, urbanization level, output growth has a higher correlation degree with TFP changes, open degree, R&D rate has a lower degree with TFP changes.I give several advice by combining of the research conclusion:(1) Strengthen supervision and guidance, focus on improving the technical efficiency of producer service industry; (2) Expand opening degree, encourage technological initiative, promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements;(3) Grasp the industry heterogeneity, improve the TFP with targeted ways;(4) Improve the level of industrialization, accelerate urbanization, Improve the supporting work to promote the TFP of producer industry.
