Viewed as the necessity for life, housing issue has always been regarded as the bread riots closely related to harmonious social relationship. Since Reform of Housing in 1988, housing allocation has been diverted to be supplied by markets rather than by the government or the workplace. Influenced by market economy, income of urban households has become wider and wider; meanwhile, rapid urban expansion and extensive city regeneration have redistributed residential spatial pattern where the rich lives better than the poor, which the phenomenon of homogeneity of habitation in similar classes and residential differentiation in mixed-income groups is aggravating. In order to solve the low-income residents’ housing problem, the government has published related policies to build low-incoming housing. Despite the fact that low-incoming housing satisfies the rigid need of low-income groups in a way, but it intensifies residential segregation to a certain extent at the same time. To be specific, the rich lives in the center with convenient transport or suburbs with beautiful scenery, while the poor lives at the ruined edge of the city.Experiences of developed countries shows that homogeneous communities has positive effect on residential segregation, which will result in deterioration in social class relationship triggering ghettoes and crimes. And mixed housing model is widely considered to solve the segregation problem and promote social integration.Considering limited constructive urban land and enlarging residential segregation, Chinese government initiates mixed housing through urban planning and housing policies with the principle of social justice. Simultaneously, it strikes scholars on considering whether housing mix suits the realities in China. Some scholars put forwards "large-scale mixing, small-scale homogeneity" model, but there is relatively lack of related empirical studies in China up to now.The paper chooses Tianjingnanyuan, a mixed housing community model as a case study. It has two communities, the east part for commercial residential buildings and the west part for removal settlement buildings. A semitransparent green wall separate; the east and west parts. Through questionnaires and interviews in Tianjingnanyuan this paper analyzes the residents’ satisfaction, desires to move and community contacts based on the residents’features in both two communities. It concludes tha "large-scale mixing, small-scale homogeneity" model promotes spatial mix in housing but is not socially integrated, as neighborhoods contacts in different communitie: remains superficial. Besides, no evidence is found of a relationship between socia network and jobs for the disadvantaged groups. Nevertheless, residents in both two communities are satisfied with the current living condition and have little stron demand to move out of here, owing to Minren Square as the view spot and publii space for residential daily communication. To conclude, the author propose that there are some ways to promote housing mix like similar exterior building, attracting middle class and efficient use of public spac etc. In addition, lower the expectation to the effect of mixed housing model, as then is little or even no evidence showing distinct economic effects in Europe and Americ where mixed-housing model has been practicing for more than twenty years.
