Since coming into the 21st century, along with the emerging and deepening of the de-industrialization which has strengthened the development depth and breadth of the economic globalization, and the industry chain has been further divided on a global scale. Therefore, it has become a fundamental goal to build the relationship of cooperation and competition to seize the high value-added sectors and enlarge the benefit and scale of economic between countries. As the main force to accelerate economic growth, producer service plays a significant role in global division of labor. The government recently repeatedly emphasizes the importance of the development of the producer service, and encourages that social capital should be used to develop producer service in many different forms. So the study to research the development patterns of producer service can provide a useful reference and regional development strategies and policies for state and local government. The study about the spatial agglomeration and concentration of the economic agents has become a research hot spot in economic geography. The research of the industrial agglomeration is one of the focuses, with continuous researches at home and abroad, the characteristics of the development of the spatial agglomeration can be presented in a more intuitive way by applying the related theory, such as agglomeration economy. The economic phenomenon that producer service shows obvious features of industrial cluster has been demonstrated by various cities at different levels in the world. As the economic and financial center of China, Shanghai is one of the most important cities and becomes the forefront city of industrial research. The development characteristic of the same industry differs in cities for the differences of the level of economic development, resource endowment, government intervention, and so on, so searching the mechanism behind them is significant to guide the urban economic development. Analyzing the development characteristics and distribution patterns of producer service in Shanghai by applying the related theories, such as the theory of industrial agglomeration model, we can provide the reference and practical value for other regionals, and provide scientific theory of producer service and regional development for government. Therefore, this article is divided into six chapters. The first chapter describes the background and significance of the study, and the main content and research methods. The second sums up the latest development of the related theories. The third chapter studies the situation and the economic impact of producer service in Shanghai from the perspective of industrial feature and economic benefit. The forth chapter analyses the spatial agglomeration characteristics of produce service by taking consulting industry as example. The fifth chapter tests the distribution mechanism of all firms, foreign firms and domestic firms from the aspects such as institutional factor, location factor and agglomeration factor. The last chapter summarizes the main conclusions of the study and points out some unsolved problems and the further research direction.
