Since 1978,Chinesealuminumindustryget the rapid development and has produceda complete industrial chain.Aluminumas the indispensable metalresource has achieveindustrial modernizationand has a great effect topromote nationalconstruction anddefense industry.The aluminum has a major role to realize the effective utilization of metal aluminum due to the importantposition.Despitethecountry’sresourceriches,the aluminumindustrycompany have a massivelyinefficientuseofresource;production has continued to expand although there is a huge loss of the aluminum industry; widespread loss of aluminum industry companies,but there are some companies have a better operating performance, and the difference is growing. The business performance evaluationis the foundation of company management and has a largeeffect onit. What is the level and difference of the aluminum industry’s operating performance? The paper willdeeply analyzethese problems. Through the objective researchandthe analysis ofthe performance status to thealuminumindustry companies,can correctly measure the role to the input-outputmanagement performance of themanagersand companystakeholders.In order to understand conditions of the aluminum companies’ operating performance, I selected financial data of 17 representative aluminum companies from 2004 to 2013,analyzed the current development of operating performance and the aluminum industry,and provide a benchmark basis to the aluminum industry.The paper firstly introduces therelated theories and summarizes the related methodsof operating performance,reviews the domestic and foreign research on the processof performance Comparison between DEA method andotherevaluation methods,it is concluded that DEA method is the most suitable research method for operating performance. Then I selected the units and indexes and established the researchmodelby DEA method according to characteristicsof the aluminum companies.Through thestaticand dynamic comparison ofaluminumcompanies,I analyzed representative of the17 aluminumcompanies and calculated thecomprehensive performance,puretechnicalperformance,scale performance, find the reasons and gap for the aluminum companies.Due to there is a huge difference inside and for more deeply analysis of the operating performance of aluminum companies,they are divided according to the chain, non-state-owned, three regions region, company size, the level of R&D investment, and performance values about the chain, non-state-owned, three regions region,company size,the level of R&D investment to be organized,find reasons whichimpact the internaloperating performance.Through the study of17 aluminumcompanies’ operating performance,and analyzes the operating performance of the chain, non-state-owned, three regions region,company size, the level of R&D investment, it is concluded that: the downstream of aluminumcompanies is better than upstream of aluminumcompanies,the non-state-owned natureofaluminumcompanies compare with the state-ownedaluminumcompanies develop better, large-scale of the aluminum companies are not better than the small-scale, the east and middle and westareaof aluminum companies’ performance value are of little difference, the low investment of aluminum companies are far behind the high investment. Finally,according to the analysis results for the aluminum companies,I gives some policy suggestions to improve the operating performance.
