Vietnam Tea Export Trade Present Situation And The Countermeasure Analysis

Vietnam has a long history of tea production, Vietnam tea export plays a significant role in whole economic and social development, especially in Vietnam Northern Highland. Tea is grown and distributed in 35 provinces of Vietnam and its planting area of about 135000 hectares, old tea planting areas are comparatively more. In recent years, Vietnam tea export has been growning slowed down, although is still among the world’s top 5 biggest exporting tea countries. The reason is, Vietnam tea export to their main export countries and areas which are Taiwan, Russia and Pakistan, Vietnam tea export prices are usually lower than the world average export price. Plus the quality and brand problems of Vietnam tea lead to its trade efficiency is not high.Firstly, in this paper, base on the analysis of Vietnam tea export situation, using database and the related theory to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze, compare Vietnam and world of main export tea countries, which are Sri Lanka, Kenya, India and China. Secondly, analyze the existing problems of Vietnam export tea, using SWOT analyse its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. At last, put forward the corresponding countermeasures to the enterprise, the association and the government. With the enterprise, advice to advanced technology, nurturing new products, improving the quality of tea; focusing to develop Vietnam’s advantage tea productions; enhancing the competitiveness of tea export trade. With Vietnam Tea Association, advice to establish the Research Center for researching the development of Vietnam tea export market; establishing insurance fund; and setting up overseas Vietnam tea business offices. With the government, putting forward the planning and development of tea garden; giving supports to tea farmers and enterprises technologies and human resources; and encouraging tea enterprises in exporting field.
