On The Practical Challenges And The Countermeasures For The Mordernization Of Agriculture With Chinese Characteristics

China is a large agricultural country, in which agriculture lies the foundation for the national economy. To promote the process of modernization and to achieve the transformation of Chinese agriculture from traditional ways to modern ones, we must take the road of agricultural modernization with Chinese characteristics. Whether the process of modernization goes along smoothly or not can directly affect the establishment of a moderately well-being and prosperous society. We still have a long way to go before realizing this strategic goal since we must take all factors into consideration to better face the realistic challenges existing in the process of agricultural modernization with Chinese characteristics from the overall perspective. It is urgent that we put forward solutions to all the challenges.This thesis hereby consists of three parts altogether. Firstly, the author proposed and analyzed the introduction to the path of agricultural modernization with Chinese characteristics including the content, features and strategic significance and presented relative analysis before drawing a conclusion.Secondly, the current reality of China ’s agricultural development makes it necessary that the agricultural modernization with Chinese characteristics confront challenges mainly in six aspects, namely the constraints from the dual system of cities and the countryside, inadequacy of means of agricultural production and management, weakness in agricultural infrastructure, low level of science and technology for agriculture and farmers’ cultural qualities, incapacity in leadership and organizational ability of the rural governors, and the imperfection of agricultural social service.Finally, to address these challenges and take the path of agricultural modernization with Chinese characteristics, we should conquer the institutional problems caused by the fixed urban-rural dual structure, improve the agricultural operation methods, and overcome the limitations of small-scale land management. We should also strengthen agricultural infrastructure, lay a solid foundation for the development of modern agriculture, speed up innovation in agricultural technology and improve farmers’ cultural quality. Besides, we should also promote the Party’s organizational and leading capacities in rural areas, the agricultural social service system, and promote the development of agricultural industrialization.
