With the rapid development of economy and urbanization in our country, the use of construction land plays a pivotal role. The concept of intensive and economical use of construction land gradually becomes more and more popular. At present, in the background of that there are contradiction of land supply which is very difficult to reconcile, in order to achieve the sustained, rapid and healthy development of the land, using construction land intensively is extremely urgent. National eleventh five-year plan for the proposed strategy of development priority zones for the relationship between development and protection in coordinating regional development provides a new train of thought and platform. From the point of view of utilization of land, there is a certain inevitable correlation between construction land intensive utilization and development priority zones strategy implementation. Premised on promoting the sustainable development and utilization of land resources and regional coordinated development, this article evaluates intensive construction land use of Xianning city objectively and scientifically based on the main function area division of Hubei province. What the contents this article studies and the conclusions include the following aspects:(1)Using the entropy weight method and multi-factor comprehensive evaluation method, We analyze and evaluate the intensive construction land use level of Xianning city periodically and longitudinally. The results showed that intensive construction land using degree during 2006-2013 increased steadily, which can be divided into two phases:rise gradually and rise significantly. The higher the intensive construction land using degree is, the higher the level of intensity of land use, land use structure and layout, land use input level, land use efficiency and land use dynamic potential score five criteria layer can be. But overall, the eco-circumstances intensive construction land use has much room to improve.(2)Using the data extracted from the database of land use change of the counties(districts) of Xianning City and the statistical data which is related to society and economy published by statistical yearbook in 2003, I analyze the construction land using situation of the six counties(districts) of Xianning City significantly. Using SPSS 18.0 to cluster analysis, according to the best principle, the six counties (districts) can be divided into three categories by intensive degree, at the same time combined with main body function partitions. The results show that there is a big gap among the different intensive construction land uses and the overall level is not high, with developing space remains also. In the three main functional areas level of intensive utilization of comprehensive ranking, national level key development zone ranks the highest,with Xian’an district in class l;national agricultural products ranks center, with Chibi and Jiayu county in class 2,Chongyang county in class 2; Provincial ecological function areas ranks lowest, with Tongcheng and Tongshan county in class 3.(3)Through the analysis and evaluation of vertical and horizontal directions, we can know more about intensive construction land use condition of Xianning city. Accordingly, we can also put forward the corresponding optimization countermeasures and suggestions to the intensive construction land use of the main function region, in order to realize the sustainable development of regional economy coordination and scientific development of Xianning City.
