Analysis Of Textile And Wearing Apparel Export In The Context Of Green Trade Barriers In Shaoxing Region

Shaoxing’s rapid growth in economy attains great profit from its development of textile industry. Naturally, textile and garment is a kind of important export product in Shaoxing, accounting for more than70%in the city’s foreign trade exports, offers prominent advantages in foreign trade. However, in the background of prevailing green trade barriers, importing countries adopt various means of trade protection to build the green barriers, which greatly affect Shaoxing’s textile and garment industry, its exports suffered a huge obstacle. It is an important issue to correctly understand the green trade barriers and then successfully conquer it in the export of Shaoxing’s textile and garment industry, which has an important influence on Shaoxing’s and even Zhejiang province’s sustained and steady economic development.Based on previous existing research results, this paper views the theory of green trade barriers as a starting point for research. It states the national and international research status of the green barriers. And then according to the relevant data and research results from interviews, the paper studies the current status of Shaoxing’s textile and garment, and the present export in recent years. It also introduces the specific characteristics of the export structure, export target market. Additionally taking Shaoxing county as an good example, it states the concrete manifestation of Shaoxing textile and garment exports which are confronted with green barriers,and deeply digs its causes and effects that textile and garment exports are frequently encountered green barriers. On this basis, using the SWOT theory, this paper detailedly elaborates on external opportunities and threats and internal strengths and weaknesses of textile and garment in Shaoxing region. Finally, this paper proposes corresponding strategies for the real transformation and upgrade of textile and garment exports.The strategic thinking contains multi-levels and multi-channels from the government,trade associations to enterprises.
