Analysis Of The Impact Of Green Trade Barriers On China's Textile Export To The European Union

In the bilateral trade of textile raw materials and textile products between China and Europe,China has maintained a trade surplus for a long time and occupied a prominent position.In recent years,the EU has formulated and implemented standard regulations such as REACH and Ecolabels to protect the environmental health of the country and protect the textile industry.This has further strengthened the implementation intensity of green trade barriers and has a serious impact on China's textile exports.Green trade barriers are characterized by legal concealment,unfairness and broad sustainability,and are embodied in the form of environmental protection conventions and regulations,green label system,green subsidy system,green packaging system and green health quarantine system.Although green barriers have a negative impact on the international competitiveness,price advantage and export cost of products,it also brings,new market opportunities for international trade,and has a favorable impact on the optimization of industrial structure and the soundness of laws and regulations.This paper selects the textile trade data of China and Europe from 2001 to 2017,first analyzes the status quo of China-EU textile trade,especially the current situation of green trade barriers suffered by China.Subsequently,using the trade gravity model to quantitatively measure the impact of China-Europe economic scale,exchange rate and green trade barriers on China's textile exports,the main empirical conclusions are as follows:(1)Both China's GDP growth and the EU's GDP growth have a positive impact on China's textile exports,but the EU's GDP growth has a greater impact.(2)The higher the implementation level and intensity of EU's green trade barriers,the greater the negative impact on China's textile exports.Green trade barriers increase the difficulty of market entry,trigger trade friction,and hinder product exports.Finally,based on the current situation and reasons of China's textile export obstruction,in the view of the government,industry associations and export enterprises,this paper proposes countermeasures and suggestions to successfully cross the green trade barriers and maintain the international competitiveness of Chinese textile raw materials and products.
