Baicheng Region Sheep Industry Survey Report

Sheep farming is one of the most significiant businesses in BaiCheng area. The throughput of mutton in this area has been ranking number one for several years in Jilin province. In this paper, we analyzed currrent status of sheep farming in both domestic area and foreign countries, also with their trends of the business development. After investigated on the current sheep farming business in Baicheng area, we found several defects existing in the business. They are about low level management applied, lack of farming scale, falling behind in overall business, being threatened by contagion, regression of grassland. However, according to the advantages of Baicheng area on factors like forage, location, markets in sheep farming, we have given seven points of improvement, to be basis of better handling the business, promoting sustainable development and making strategic decisions. They can also be basis of theory for further research on problems and future development direction of sheep farming business in Jilin province.
