New product development is an important link in the business of enterprises and a key factor to the sustainable development of enterprises. Nowadays, the life cycle of products becomes shorter and shorter, the requirements of customers is always changing. If the enterprises want to maintain continuous success in the intense competition of markets, they must size up the situation, develop new products continuously and push them to markets according to the requirements of markets and the change of competitors. Well, the success of new product development depends on an excellent new product development team to a great extent. In the process of new product development, the enterprises often need to form cross-functional team to develop new products, because the cross-functional team is a close cross-functional group which is composed from different professional members which can manage personal interaction and the metastasis of technology and creativity between individual and team, which can save the time of product development and cost, speed up the new product development. In the process of cross-functional team forming, the team member selection is an important issue, effective team member selection has significant meaning for promoting the overall performance of team. Therefore, the research on the member selection of cross-functional team in new product development in this paper has important research value and academical significance.Basing on the existing research, this paper carries out the work in the following two aspects:(1) The organizational structures of cross-functional team in new product development are classified and summarized. First, this paper introduces the definition of organizational structure and some common ones; then, the organizational structures of cross-functional team in new product development are classified and finished from four angles, such as the number of organization which team spans, the number of team, the condition of team collaboration, the condition of member distribution, and the features of every organizational structure is analyzed, related example is given further.(2) A method of member selection in cross-functional team of new product development is given which considers index aspiration. With respect to a kind of common organizational structure of cross-functional team in new product development:the condition of multiple teams in organization, teams are independent and each member only be distributed to a team, a method of member selection is proposed. First, the satisfaction function of index aspiration is constructed basing on the message of index aspiration which is given by decision maker; Then, a member selection model for maximizing the teams’satisfaction degree is constructed and the solution is given. At last, an example of new product development shows the feasibility and validity of this method.By the end of this paper, the main research results and requiring work for further research are summarized.
