Shenyang LM Aero-Engine Co., ltd which is the1st company of aero engine manufacturing area in China, is a member of ZH industry Group now. In1980s, LM Aero-Engine has begun to develop foreign trade business under the terms of subcontract. And LM Aero-Engine, be virtue of its own superiority, came to be a main supplier especially for case and ring products.In1990s, LM Aero-Engine had been well known for good delivery and quality performance. Some other aero engine company, such as Snecma, Rolls-Royce, Avio and Pratt&Whitney, started to get in touch with LM for cooperation and put PO. Until the economic crisis happened in2008, LM’s foreign trade delivery value had kept rapid growth. After that LM integrated resources and set up international business division. In the environment of international market, under the pressure of exchange rate changes and new entrants, LM’s senior managers are now focus on expansion of foreign trade and obtain more profits per ZH industry group targets.The essay takes foreign trade business of LM Aero-Engine as research object, utilizing the modern strategic management theory, using the basic research thought of strategy analysis-formulation-implementation-control to draw up the competitive strategy for future years. The essay, firstly, sketches out the modern strategic management theory to be used. Secondly, to reveal opportunities and threats from analysis of external environments such as politics, industry, market and internal environments such as production management, new part development, program management, HR resource. Then I summarize strength and weakness using tools of SWOT array. At Last, establish the objective, competitive and functional strategy based on the analysis of results. Present with thinking and measure to implementation and control of strategy.The result of this essay has a guiding significance to develop foreign trade business of LM and can also be provided as reference to other company of same kind in China.
