Analysis Of Modernization Road For Resource-based City

The resource-based city is established on the basis of abundant resource and gettingprosperous from resource. It made great contribution to the development of economic. Since1990s, with the exhausting of resource day by day, the resource-based city became declininggradually. Not matter from economy or from society, this kind of cities are suffered multipleobstruction. It means a lot to comprehensively complete well-to-do society, the overallsituation of reform and opening-up as well as modernization situation on whether theresource-based city successfully transformed. Therefore, as the city taking exploiting andconsuming resource as leading industry, a new path must be explored.The transformation of resource-based city cannot be accomplished in an action, it is aprogressive development process, and it needs us to conduct exploring and summarizingconstantly. This paper did relative research on how the resource-based city transform andsuccessfully move towards modernization. Firstly, it started with the basic theory of urbanmodernization and development history of resource-based city. Secondly, it analyzed thedilemma faced by the development of resource-based city. As a series of dilemmas existed,such as slow development in economy, serious deterioration in ecological environment,protruding social contradictions, lag in urban culture and many more. Therefore, it has certainnecessity for the resource-based city to transform. As a typical resource-based city, it isdistinctly important to conduct deep, systematic research towards Fushun City. This city hassome successful experience on the problems faced during transformation period, for instance,proceeding Shenyang-Fushun urban integration by relying on Shenyang City, developingtourism by utilizing advantages, etc, and all of these measures promoted Fushun City to movetowards modernization. Finally, according to the successful experience from Fushun City, andthrough the research from different angles towards the transformation of resource-based city,this paper hoped to find a comprehensive path for resource-based city to head formodernization. On the one hand, it proposed four basic principles for modernizingresource-based city: Sustainable development; Act according to circumstance; Follow the rulesof urban development and functional evolution; Promote the coordination and unificationbetween urban modernization and human modernization. Among the above principle, none is dispensable. On the other hand, this paper generalized the development direction for theresource-based city to head for modernization. Here this paper recommended countermeasuresin terms of economic industrial structure, ecological environment, social problem, urbanculture and other aspects emphatically.
