The Research On Driving Effect Of Urbanization To Hubei Province’s Economic Growth

Since the reform and opening up, the urbanization and economic growth of Hubei province have made a breakthrough development, from1978to2011, Hubei province’s urbanization rate increased from15.09%to51.83%, at the same time, the per capita GDP increased from381yuan to35181yuan. Currently, Hubei province is in a critical period of deepening reform and economy escalation, urbanization will be the important engine of economic growth. Grasping the intrinsic relationship between urbanization and economic growth has important theoretical and practical significance to strengthen the coordination of urbanization and economic growth, and it also has a significance to accelerate economic growth rate and improve the quality of economic growth of Hubei province.This paper makes investigation on the correlation between urbanization and economic growth by appealing to the current researches at domestic and abroad, with the combination of standardize analysis and empirical analysis. This paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter is an introductory chapter. In addition to the research background, research significance, and research question and methodology, innovation as well as the inadequacies of this paper, also, the framework of this paper is provided in this chapter. The second chapter expounds the theory foundation of urbanization and economic growth related to this paper, also, the mechanism of action of urbanization on economic growth is provided in this chapter; The third chapter gives an analysis of the status quo of urbanization and growth in Hubei province; The forth chapter gives an empirical analysis of the driving effect of urbanization to the Hubei province’s economic growth on the basis of researches in chapter two and three; The fifth chapter gives the main conclusions of this paper and puts forward some suggestions on urbanization and economic development strategy of Hubei province according to the relevant conclusions.Urbanization and economic growth are very complicated problem, as they involve very wide range of factors, due to the space’s limitations of this article, it is impossible to consider all sorts of the factors and even most of the factors can’t be considered in this paper.In this paper, the investigation on the contributions made by economic growth to urbanization is only a quantitative result.In further study, to make the measurement of the level of urbanization not only contains the urbanization rate, also contains the quality of urbanization level of urbanization, we can use a more accurate measure of urbanization. We also can add other variables in econometric analysis such as human capital, R&D investment to reflect the effect of these factors on economic growth, we also can consider the two-way effect between urbanization and economic growth, and so on. Of course, all these are the directions of further research.
