The Study Of China’s Export Trade Suffering The Effects Of United States Anti-dumping

Anti-dumping is a hot issue since a long time, and China will inevitably faceanti-dumping from the United States and other countries in the future. In this paper,the perspective of in-depth study of the U.S. anti-dumping on China’s export trade,in order to provides a good reference and recommendations for our trade policy andthe strategic approach of our industry. Firstly, by constructing price competitionmodel, this paper proved the trade destruction effect and the trade deflection effect ofanti-dumping, and selected the product data which the22cases of China suffered U.S.antidumping during2005-2010involve in, to study these two effects empirically bymeasurement methods. Secondly, using statistical methods for China’s export tradesuffered the effects of the U.S. anti-dumping conducted in-depth research, detailedbelow.In the study of trade destruction effect, this paper studied the different degree ofthe trade destruction effect from different products and industries in this period, byusing the product data during2005-2009which China suffered31cases of U.S. anti–dumping invove in. Research shows that the extent of the effect is different fordifferent commodities and indusrties. Base metal industry suffered its most serious,followed by the chemical industry, textile industry and mechanical industry. Theseindustries are either resource intensive or labor-intensive industries. Theircomparative advantage is more reflected in the price advantage, and they are prone tobe affected by price, the effect of anti-dumping trade undermines encountered aswell.In the study of trade deflection effects, this study showed that there are11kindsof products obviously suffered the U.S. anti-dumping trade deflection effect durng2005-2009and base metal industry suffered significantly higher than other industries.In addition, the study also showed that the nail mainly exported to Indonesia, Japan,Canada and other12countries, after suffered the U.S. anti-dumping.In the study of trade structure effect, this paper studied the impact of the U.S.anti-dumping to the structure of exports by analysising base metals industry,chemical industry, textile industry, miscellaneous products industry and mechanicalindustry annually suffered U.S. anti-dumping cases and every industry exports to theU.S. accounted for the changes in the proportion of total U.S. exports. Researchshows that the United States will use the anti-dumping measures to influence the structure of exports to the United States for their own interests. The U.S.anti-dumping makes the mechanical and electrical industry increased in the proportionof total exports in the certain extent, and occupied the lion’s share, while base metalsindustry, chemical industry due to the U.S. anti-dumping suffered serious damageeffects, in our exports to the U.S. has a lower proportion of total exports. But, if theUnited States will increase the anti-dumping efforts to the the product ofelectromechanical industry, the optimization of the entire industrial structure in Chinawill suffered a material adverse effect.
