The sustainable growth of enterprises is not only the pursuit and goals of enterprises, but also a hot topic of strategic management organizations research. In the face of the enterprise "short life" problems, academic and business community has been committed to seeking to find ways and means to achieve sustainable growth of enterprises. However, there are still many shortcomings of existing research on the sustainable growth of the enterprise, and lack of clear, agreed mechanism or mechanization of sustained growth. Based on this, this paper tries to explore the mechanism of enterprise sustainable growth of enterprises from a new perspective, to compensate for the lack of existing research. In this paper, we based on the perspective of organizational inertia, and selected ZTE Corporation as the case study objects, used the typical theory building style case study method, revealed the mechanism of enterprise sustainable growth in dynamic and complex environment through the analysis of the process of growth of ZTE Corporation. First of all, this article defines the concept and composition of organizational inertia, the relationship between organizational inertia and organizational change, strategy and organizational structure in the organizational change, and the existing study on the mechanism of the sustainable growth of enterprises by combing the existing literature. We abstracted the main concepts related to this research topic, and made a preliminary analysis of their relationship.Next, we obtained abundant empirical data about ZTE Corporation through the network searching, field interview and survey, And analysed ZTE’s case data in the way of codeing them to confirm that the default concept is really important and find new concept. Then, combined with the coding results, we integrated the materials of cases and described the key events in each period of the corporation, formed the overall understanding of the growth process of ZTE Corporation. Then, combined with existing research and the case data of ZTE Corporation, we took in-depth discussion about internal relations between the phenomenons in the process growth of ZTE. Then we proposed a series of the theoretical proposition through blending theoretical and empirical evidence, We constructed a theoretical model of the mechanism of sustainable growth of enterprises under the perspective of organizational inertia through integrating these theoretical propositions, and presented it in graphical form.In this paper, we found that organizational inertia is the primary factor of hindering the sustainable growth of enterprises in a dynamic environment and the premise of realizing the sustainable growth of enterprises is to overcome organizational inertia through a case study of ZTE. Although the organizational change is an effective method to overcome the organizational inertia, but it does not necessarily promote the sustainable growth of enterprises. The fundamental way of sustainable growth of enterprises is to achieve the dynamic matching of strategy and structure, and the dynamic change of organization model which formed of dynamic matching of strategy and structure adapt to the environment. Among them, the matching of organizational strategy and structure is a dynamic process that driven by environmental changes, guided by strategic change, and followed the rule of strategy determines structure, the result is the formation of organization model based on two coupled.Finaliy, we proposed targeted recommendations to enterprises in the reality that how to achieve sustainable growth based on the conclusions drawn in this article.
