Today in the21st century, crises exist in the international political environment. The impact of European debt crisis and U.S. sub-prime mortgage crisis are still remaining. Financial markets are not stable since FED end the programme of QE. Global economic downturn continues. Chinese GDP growth is slowing. The problems of overcapacity and "three-high&one-low" are conspicuous in Chinese low-end manufacturing industry. More uncertainties of domestic and international environment have intensified the fierce competition between the enterprises. Under the pressures of survival and development, more and more enterprises focus on HR management and development, and realize to take full advantage of talents to enhance their comprehensive strength. In this time of knowledge economy, to improve employee and enterprise performance and raise the working efficiency of enterprise will determine the enterprise’s further development.Performance management is an important part of HR management, and performance appraisal plays a critical role in performance management process. This paper mainly studies the optimization of employee performance appraisal in the natural-rubber machinery manufacturing industry by the case of SY Company. Firstly, the paper reviewed the related domestic and foreign literatures and basic theories to understand the trend of research on enterprise employee performance appraisal. Then, the paper briefly introduced the domestic industry background, SY company overview, organization structure, human resources status, the process of performance management development, and concentrated on the description of the current situation of SY Company’s employee performance appraisal. Next, the paper brought out the facing problems and real causes of performance appraisal in SY Company. At last, from a different perspective, a series of solutions were provided for SY Company to promote its performance appraisal implementation and increase the efficiency of its performance appraisal.Through the study of employee performance appraisal in this paper, a reference and guidance could be expected to provide for the enterprise which exist in the same industry as SY Company or encounter the same problem and the research in the future.
