Comparative Study Of Urbanization Between China And Foreign Countries

China is in a crucial period of reform and opening up, also the critical period of building a moderately prosperous society. China’s economic and social development has entered a new stage. Urbanization is an important issue concerning the success of the modernization which our country is facing, and it’s also an important way to achieve national prosperity, welfare of the people, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Since the reform and opening up, China’s urbanization has made a series of remarkable achievements, but many problems also exposed in the process of urbanization. How to overcome these problems to make our urbanization construction enter a new stage is an important task. Throughout the world, it is easy to find that typical countries have provided a lot of lessons for us on the urbanization process, patterns and characteristics. Therefore, a comprehensive comparison study of the differences between Chinese and foreign cities and towns can not only explore the objective laws of urbanization development, but also provide inspiration and guidance for our new urbanization, which has an important significance.The paper takes Chinese and foreign urbanization as the research objects, in which the foreign cities and towns are divided into two types of developed and developing countries’, and conducts a comprehensive comparison of the similarities and differences in Chinese and foreign countries’ urbanization, through literature research, comparative analysis, and other research methods, trying to derive general rules of urbanization development and find the way to enhance the quality and level of urbanization in China. The research thinking is as follows. Firstly, grasp the overall conduct of urbanization, through elaborating analysis of the definition of urbanization, urbanization dynamic mechanism and other related concepts, while to lay the theoretical support for the comparisons and summary. Secondly, elaborate the development process, classic model and characteristics of foreign urbanization, by comparing and analyzing the similarities and differences between Chinese and foreign urbanization to draw the differences, and summarize lessons and inspiration to get the conclusion that taking the new road of urbanization is the inevitable choice of socialist modernization with Chinese characteristics and also an important part of building a moderately prosperous society. Thirdly, deepen the understanding and grasp of the new urbanization development since the 16 th national congress, by analyzing the intension, meaning and requirements of related theories of it, and provide theoretical support for the policy recommendations. Finally, give the policy recommendations of the new urbanization development. Through comprehensive Analysis, on the basis of the new urbanization theory guidance and foreign experience, give the policy recommendations in five areas as, using the people first principle to guide changing the concept of urbanization, arranging urban and rural development, balancing regional development, cultivating leading industries, and deepening system reforms to solve the problems in our past urbanization, such as urbanization lags behind industrialization, the contradiction between the urban and rural dual system, the imbalance of regional development, focus on quantity but not quality and so on.
