The reasonable layout of economic hotel does not only affect its business benefits, but also affects the future development. Therefore, in-depth study of economic hotel, including its layout and distribution scale exerts very important and practical significances on its healthy development. The structure of this research is as follows:The first section explains the research background and research significance, which briefly overviews the study contents and methods of this dissertation. The second section, defines the concepts, including hotels, economic hotels and the spatial layout of economic hotels, and then reviews the relevant research of other scholars. The third section, constructs a theoretical framework of this research, which covers theoretical foundation and the analytical framework. Theoretical foundation includes core-edge theory, spatial locality theory, cluster model, urban geography, Ashworth and Tunbridge city hotel space distribution model. The analytical framework is based on the theoretical foundation, and provides the direction for this dissertation. The fourth section, describes the current development and spatial layout of Chinese economic hotels in brief. The fifth section describes the process, the current development and spatial layout of Wuhan economic hotels in details. In particular, it highlights five characteristics of the spatial layout of Wuhan economic hotels. Overall, it is featured with high concentration, typical core-edge distribution, circulation around each CBD area, restriction by traffic of both inner city and traffic hub, and the peer competition in urban fringe or surrounding cities. The sixth section gives a systemic analysis of the influences of the spatial distribution of economic hotels. It firstly analyzes the influences of economic hotels distribution. The model finds it is highly relevant with surrounding catering, entertainment, shopping, scenic spots and the distance of public traffic. It chooses Home Inns as a case study to elaborate its location. It then analyzes the influential factors of the scale of economic hotels layout. Through SPSS21.0,it applies stepwise multiple variables regression model to test the influences of 10 independent variables on 1 dependent variable. It finds that the distribution scale is affected by the gross of the third sector, the number of tourists and the total volume of retail sales of consumption goods. The final section is about counter measures on how to optimize the spatial arrangement of economic hotel in Wuhan. It proposes that the economic hotels should be opened in the suburbs, and it should also consider the influences of the distributions of the giant traffic hubs, tourist sceneries, and university towns and high-way service centers around the city.
