The Statistical Analysis Of Coal Utilization Efficiency In Shanxi Province

With the change of the energy consumption structure of our countryas well as the whole world, higher requirements on coal resources use efficiencyare badly needed. In the face of energy crisis, the sustainable development ofcoal resources is significant to solve the energy crisis. However, due to thetechnology,management and many other reasons, Shanxi and the whole countryboth meet with the inefficient development and utilization of coal resourceswhich inevitably lead to the destruction and waste of the coal resources. Theever-growing coal consumption demand and environment pollution come out tobeing the prominent contradictions which restrict the sustainable developmentof our country. Based on the above background, combined with the actualsituation of Shanxi coal resources development and using, this thesis aims toevaluate and analyze the Shanxi Coal resources use efficiency.The first part is an introduction. It describes the current situation andsignificance of topics by analyzing the national Coal utilization and coalutilization issues in Shanxi; It summarizes the current research situation worldwide and identifies the major research contents and methods and innovation ofthis paper. The innovations of this thesis are as follows:（1）Different from theprevious study which focuses on the sense of energy efficiency in macro, thispaper selects one of the resources the coal resources and analyzes the coalutilization（.2）This article analyzes Shanxi coal utilization of different cities anddifferent periods so as to provide beneficial advices to the utilization of the coalresources of Shanxi.The second part is the relevant theoretical basis. It introduces theoreticalanalysis of energy efficiency,energy efficiency measure,the sustainabledevelopment of coal resource theory and coal resources and its classification. The third part is an analysis on Shanxi Coal utilization, the main researchcontent and conclusions are as follows: characteristics of Shanxi’s coalresources, current situation of Shanxi’s coal utilization as well as Shanxi’senergy consumption structure.The fourth part is the evaluation of coal utilization efficiency. Firstly,according to the index selection principle, combined with the characteristics ofShanxi’s coal resources and situation of Shanxi’s coal utilization, this paperconstructs a system of Measure Indicator. This study selects coal consumption,coal losses, total coal industry investment, spending on education, labor, GDPas Index to evaluate Shanxi coal utilization. Secondly, this study providesempirical analysis on utilization efficiency of coal resources in Shanxi by usingDEA mode so as to calculate coal utilization efficiency from2001to2013inShanxi and the efficiency of11cities in2012. By calculating the utilizationefficiency of coal in Shanxi, we know that the coal utilization efficiency inShanxi ups and downs. It gradually decreased from2001to2005and graduallyincreased from2006to2008. In2009, it suddenly reduced and then graduallyincreases from2010to2013. By calculating the utilization efficiency of11cities, we know that coal utilization efficiency were higher in Taiyuan,Yangquan, Jincheng, Yuncheng, Jinzhong, Linfen City, Shuozhou and lower inDatong, Changzhi, Xinzhou and Lvliang.The fifth part is an analysis on main influence factors of the Shanxi coalutilization. The influence factors are economic growth, energy consumptionstructure, industrial structure as well as technology. This thesis tries to emplyTobit regression analysis by building econometric model to analyze the impactof the above factors on Coal utilization efficiency By regression analysis weknow that per GDP, total imports and exports level in GDP, educationalexpenditure to GDP ratio and the efficiency of coal use have a positively impactand Secondary industry share of GDP have a negative impact.The sixth part is the policy recommendations on the efficiency of coal utilization. According to the current utilization of coal and coal utilizationefficiency of correlation analysis, combined with the actual condition of Shanxi,this paper provides some recommendations such as adjusting industrial structureand energy consumption structure, Strengthening management to resource input,strengthening the supervision and management of coal, speeding up opening aswell as developing new technologies.The seventh part is the conclusion and prospect. Based on the aboveresearch, this paper puts forward the conclusion to provide the theoretical basisfor the improving of coal utilization efficiency in Shanxi. Then, the paperdescribes the shortcomings and future prospects.
