Shared leadership is a new proposed concept of management. Shared leadership is a dynamic、interactive influence process, it is built on the basis of the group; it emphasized that the leader changes with the different characteristics of the task. Shared leadership differs from the traditional linear-leadership, the responsibilities, rights and functions of leader will be dispersed. This paper make a connection of shared leadership and project performance, and explore the relationship between them through empirical research.This paper aims to verify that the shared leadership will have a significant impact on the performance of large-scale construction projects through mediation variables. Documentary analysis method is used to establish the basic model of this paper, questionnaire is used to collect data, the exploratory factor analysis(EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis(CFA) are used to test reliability and validity of the collected data, using structural equation modeling (SEM)to build a model to test the relationship of shared leadership、project performance and mediating effect. The mediating effect between shared leadership and project performance is judged and verified on the significance of path coefficients which was put forward by Wen Zhonglin et al(2004). Building the relationships of shared leadership and project performance on the perspective of a team, and verifying that shared leadership have a significant impact on project performance; and drawing the conclusion that:shared leadership will not affect project performance through team cohesion;shared leadership would affect project performance through knowledge sharing and team member roles cognition. With the rapid development of knowledge-economy and information-technology, sharing the leadership and responsibility between members and the delegating leader is conform to the trend of social development; and combining shared leadership and large construction projects will definitely bring benefit for large engineering construction projects.
