In Chinese enterprise, paternalistic leadership has been the mainstream way to manage, itfocus on managers’ centralization and subordinates’ obedience; while shared leadership hasbeen widely taken by the western companies, and it is characterized by decentralization, broadparticipation and democratic consultation. As we all know, management is scene dependence,different cultural backgrounds need different management methods. This is an issue worth tobe explored whether shared leadership is effective in Chinese culture. This paper selects theteam as research objects, and puts shared leadership and paternalistic leadership in comparison,to verify the application prospect of shared leadership in our country.Through questionnaire survey, we have measured and analyzed the leadershipeffectiveness of shared leadership and paternalistic leadership. Study found that, in thesituation in China, the leadership effectiveness of shared leadership and paternalisticleadership both have significant prediction effect, but shared leadership’s is superior. Amongthem, performance expectation, mutual coordination and power and responsibilities sharedhave a positive contribution to the leadership effectiveness. And authority dimension ofpaternalistic leadership has negative predictive effect on leadership effectiveness, while virtueand benignity dimension shows positive effectiveness on it. Results indicate that: along withthe historical process of reform and opening up, profound changes have taken place in China,and shared leadership is also adapt to enterprise organization in China.
