As the basis of cloud innovation model research, this paper aims to provide a foundation for future research. Cloud innovation is a broad concept, which can be divided into different kinds and forms, and there is much difference between the different forms, so researches only about cloud innovation mode will inevitably superficial. It is necessary to separate different cloud innovation forms, so that we can discuss such problems as its operation mechanism and innovation performance deeper.Based on the purpose of theory research, this paper made three aspects of research. The first aspect is the explanation of cloud innovation development, and the definition of the cloud innovation mode, that cloud innovation model must satisfy three conditions, namely the use of cloud innovation technology, integration of cloud resources, produce cloud innovations; The second aspect is the driving factors and characteristics of cloud innovation mode; The third aspect is the categories of cloud innovation mode, based on platform ownership and management structure and we use a lot of cases to support our view. So our study has a strong academic value.Based on the perspective of empirical research, this paper using the method of questionnaire to collect 138 samples of cloud innovation platform and analyze the data. The characteristics of different cloud innovation platforms have more significant effect on individual innovation behavior; And aiming at two different innovation platform, namely the innovation contest and innovation community, different platform have different influence on individual innovation behavior; The innovation participation degree has a bigger influence on innovation community members than innovation contest members, but the material incentives has a bigger influence on innovation contest members than innovation community members.The study uses a Netlogo simulation software to research the difference of the performance between innovation contest and innovation community. We have gotten many valuable conclusions: the innovation participation degree is positively related with innovation performance, while individual’s reputation threshold and kene’s fitness threshold are negatively related with innovation performance, and the innovation doorsill has no significant influence on the innovation performance. Besides that, in the number of members of the same circumstances, the quantity of innovation community is significantly higher than the innovation comtest; And on the quality of innovation, there is no obvious difference between the two plat models. We also concluded that there is no good or bad difference between innovation contest and innovation community, only the difference how enterprises choose the right innovation model.The study uses the computer simulation method and empirical research on cloud innovation mode and has a comprehensive discussion. Our study has a strong theoretical value to the mixed research situation. Besides that, our study makes enterprises know how to establish and manage cloud innovation platform according to their own needs, and how to impose rules on different innovation platform. So our study has a strong practical value.
