In this thesis, the problems of Company A’s steel large soft processing plant layout has been exposed under the spotlight. Through the systematic layout planning method, a new improvement plan has been obtained, which helps reduce the transport costs of Company A’s steel large soft processing plant and make full use of the space and equipment of the workshop. The thesis discusses the background, purpose, significance and research status of the study; expounds the relevant theory of plant layout design, including the definition, composition and principles of the shop layout, basis types of shop layout, methods workshop layout as well as the basic elements and basic steps of the system layout planning method used by this thesis; a brief introduction to company A and the steel large soft processing plant, including the plant’s main products and models, the products processing and the configuration of the workshop are given, the layout of the status quo of the workshop is described, the original layout of the workshop is drawn out, the operating units is divided, the original layout of the plant’s operating units is rendered, the main problems existing in the workshop are analyzed from the aspects of logistics quantity between operation units, the arrangement of the workshop layout, arrangement of workshop’s temporary storage area, production requirements and equipment layout; the systematic layout planning method is applied to gradually improve, the operating units logistics relationship and non-logistics relationship and comprehensive relationship are mainly analyzed, and a logistics correlogram of related operating units, non-logistics correlogram, integrated correlogram, location correlogram and area correlogram are plotted, and a new improvement plan is reached; the new and old program are evaluated, the feasibility of the new program is demonstrated to solve the problems of the workshop layout.
