With the rapid development of the expressway, the number of the expressway toll-collectors is increasing quickly. It is significant to study the occupational status of the toll-collectors. The thesis absorbs the reasonable elements of western management theory and integrates China’s modern management system. Targeting the toll-collectors of Jiangxi Provincial Expressway Investment Group Limited Company (hereinafter referred to as "Jiangxi Provincial Expressway Group"), a wide investigation on the occupational status of the toll-collectors of Jiangxi Provincial Expressway Group has been conducted, it is found that the employment mechanism does not meet the actual needs, such as toll-collectors works far from their family, no uniform salary standard, comparatively big welfare difference, occupational health problem, especially the mental health problem, no bright career future and etc. Through extensive surveys and specific field trips, the thesis finds the way to improve the toll occupational status, the countermeasures mainly include:to improve the recruitment mechanism and internal deployment mechanism, i.e. strictly controlling the number of staff and their qualification, employing the staff nearby, implementing the internal staff exchange, adopting internship-type employment policy; improving the salary and welfare system, i.e. establishing the uniform and fair salary and welfare standard, normally increasing salary & welfare system and outstanding and stable salary & welfare guarantee; implementing measures to improve the physical and mental health of toll collectors, i.e. improving occupational environment, creating good living and working condition, strengthening the psychological counseling to set up positive attitude, implementing job rotation and staff exchange to relieve the working burden of the toll-collectors; expanding the promotion room for the toll collectors, i.e. stimulating the staff to study hard to improve their comprehensive quality, strengthening the staff training, holding competition activities for the common staff each year to assign the better staff to the good position in order to encourage the staff, breaking the binding of the old system to promote the excellent toll-collectors to the higher managerial level. Intense study on the occupational status of the toll-collectors and further occupational improvement of the toll-collectors will strengthen the construction of the toll-collectors team and promote the harmonious development of the expressway industry and enterprises.
