China’s tobacco industry has been developed rapidly into 21st century. With the continuous increase of the corporate profitability and scientific research team members in recent years, T Company has undertaken many scientific research projects in order to following China National Tobacco Company’s strategy of sustainable development. However, some scientific research projects were failed due to the reason of improper project management have not achieved the desired objectives, resulting in project funding and human resources waste. Project risk management plays an extremely important role in project management. One of the main reasons for the failure or forced termination of the project is that the project management team doesn’t have project risk management as the main function of the project management so as to increased risk of occurrence probability. How to strengthen the risk management of scientific research projects so as to further improve the management level of scientific research projects and the enterprise’s independent innovation ability of scientific research, ensure the economic and social benefits of scientific research output, has a more far-reaching significance.This paper based on the practice of T Company’s solar curing barn scientific research project, and combined with the theory and methods of project risk management. Firstly, this paper briefly introduces three main phases of the solar curing barn research project. And then, according to the five main stages of the project risk management which are risk management planning, risk identification, risk assessment, risk response and risk monitoring as the main line to analyze each phase of the project’s risk: First, using the project risk identification theory and method to identify and analysis the risk events in three different phases of the project; Second, using AHP method to evaluate the risk in each project phases; Third, find out the suitable risk response method for each main risk in the three phases of the project by using multiple risk response strategy; Finally, according to the actual situation of the project, put forward two kinds of risk monitoring methods to monitor project risk, so that the project team can monitor the project risk more effectively, thereby reducing the risk occurrence.The content of this paper has been applied in the practice of T Company’s solar curing barn scientific research project risk management, which has a positive effect on reducing the risk of the project.
