A Study Of Intellectual Property Strategy Impact On Equipment Manufacturing Enterprises’ Core Competence

Under the background of current knowledge economy,the competitiveness of enterprises has become competitiveness of knowledge. Enterprises can not obtain competitive advantages through the traditional pledge of fixed assets such as equipments or buildings. The patents, trademarks and other intellectual property rights are enterprises’ intangible assets.They are the key to achieve the core comptence. Nowadays,current technology is developing rapidly and technical achievements are constantly emerging.Intellectual property rights promote companies gaining competitive advantages and they are important guarantee for enhancing core comptence. At present, Chinese equipment manufacturing industry is committed to change “Made in China” to “Creat in China”, which requires equipment manufacturing enterprises should have their own core competencies.Our government pays more and more attention to intellectual property rights.It is a good way to solve the shortage of equipment manufacturing enterprises’ innovative ability through core comptence that enhanced by intellectual property strategy.On the basis of existing theoretical research,the effects of equipment manufacturing enterprises’ intellectual property strategy for core comptence will be explored. Firstly, core comptence analysis framework is build based on the characteristics and current situation of equipment manufacturing enterprises.Equipment manufacturing enterprises’ core comptence is constituted by enterprise’s technology innovation ability, the ability of control costs, strategic management, corporate brand image and market acceptance through SWOT analysis, skills analysis and customer contribution analysis.Secondly,intellectual property strategies that are suitable for equipment manufacturing enterprises are enumerated and thier impact on enterprises’ core comptence components.Then,the hypothesis are proposed.Finally,the hypothesis are verified through a case study.The results obtained by theoretical analysis and case study illustrate that patent output strategy could enhance enterprises’ innovation capability,intellectual property brand strategy could enhance the corporate brand image and market acceptance,standard strategy could enhance their abilities to control costs and R&D capabilities and patented integrated management strategy could enhance strategic management capability.The conclusion that equipment manufacturing enterprises’ intellectual property strategies are beneficial to enhancing the core competence is confirmed by above analysis.Companies should implement intellectual property strategies to enhance the core competence.At last, some policy suggestions based on the research findings are proposed to promote the level of China’s intellectual property.
